There's something just gorgeous about the first days of summer in Vermont. As much as we all love winter, we love the natural, spontaneous celebration that comes with the embrace of summer's warmth. Here at the bakery, we mark the beginning of the season with a few different mini-celebrations of our own. The first time the big garage doors are lifted up, and the first ride of the bread bike.
The Bread Bike is having a great season so far! Gabi and Jens, our faithful riders, cover most of the city on their Monday-Friday routes. We started a new baguette bake schedule so that freshly baked bread is coming out of the oven around 3pm, just in time for delivery by bike. For anyone not familiar with our bread bikes, they're just like an ice cream truck, but with bread and a bike! You hear a sing-song, "BREAD FOR SAAAAALE!" and the ring of a bell, look out your door, and there's the bike, loaded with freshly baked bread, pastries and cookies. It's a lot of fun for the riders, and a great joy to the people who get delicious bread at their door.
So have a great summer, everyone!
